Hi! My name is Gabriela (Gabi) Amon. I was born in Mary Birch hospital in La Jolla, California in March of 2000, a month apart from Dante and in the same hospital! Both of my parents are from Brazil, and when I was very young, the three of us moved back and spent a few years living in São Paulo. I was baptized at a Catholic church called Nossa Senhora do Rosário in our hometown of Campinas, not too far from my grandparents’ house. I am the oldest cousin and sibling in my family! I loved my afternoons spent watching disney movies with my mom and grandma and weekends in the pool with my parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles. It was also around this time that I discovered my love for singing in my grandpa’s orchard, and learning to sew and craft from my grandma.

Before starting school, we moved back to San Diego for my dad’s work, and I started taking some English classes on the side. I spent a lot of time with my friends Liana and Isabella, (bridesmaids) who are still my friends today. I started taking piano lessons and ballet around this time (and for a short time, ice skating!). I missed my grandparents and family a lot, but we would go back to visit them for a few months at a time, at least once a year.
In 2003, my brother Rafael (groomsman) was born, and in 2009, my brother Miguel (groomsman). I’ve always been very close with my brothers. Rafael and I went to Notre Dame Academy here in San Diego for elementary and middle school, where I met Alex (groomsman), and Natalie (bridesmaid) among many other good friends I still keep in touch with today. I also met Juliana (bridesmaid) during this time, but we only found out when we became close friends later in life! During this time I spent a lot of time singing in the choir, playing piano, learning French in school, and taking karate with my dad and brothers. My mom always did crafts with me and helped me with my homework, and my dad would play tons of made-up games with us.
Dante and I both went to Cathedral Catholic High School, where I shifted from pursuing a music career to a different path in visual arts. As someone raised speaking two languages, I learned early on that my favorite way to communicate wasn't through words at all, but through the arts. I especially developed a love for pre-modern art, movies, games, and music. In high school I continued to participate in choir and spent many lunches playing music in the band room with my friends. While my swimming skills left much to be desired, joining the team was a total win because it’s where I met Denise and Nicole (bridesmaids). Though Dante and I had some classes together since freshman year, we only became closer friends towards the end of high school.
I went to college for my undergraduate degree in studio arts at Loyola Marymount University. I chose a Multimedia Arts degree because it was the only program with special access to the film production program at the school, and also because I wanted to learn multiple different forms of art. Around this time Dante and I started dating and he was very supportive, always helping me put my gallery pieces together for my thesis and art shows, and giving me thoughts and feedback on all of my work. It was during this time that I met Sam (bridesmaid), and we decided to become roommates. We had the best of times in our apartment in LA, especially when it was almost 3 in the morning and we still hadn’t finished talking. It was around this time that Dante, our friends, my brother and I started spending a lot of time camping. I’ve learned that I prefer to camp in my car than in a tent, though. Also during this time, I briefly worked a few jobs on set in LA and in San Diego as a production assistant, set designer, other roles in art department, and in the archives warehouse at Sony. I had so much fun and I’ll never forget it! It was also around this time I adopted my beloved three legged mini golden doodle Benji!!!
When Dante and I graduated in 2022, we both decided to move back home to San Diego. I gradually lost access to jobs on set, but I had been working as a freelance graphic designer for some time already. I decided to continue that work under my own LLC, which I named after the company my dad used to work at when I was a baby: Vesper. Vesper Design LLC started up in 2022 as a graphic design consulting business. Eventually, I branched out into photography as well, and came up with the idea for Vesper Outpost, where I would sell handmade crafts and art prints of mine. It was around this time that some of my friends volunteered to participate in some of my photo projects, especially Juliana, Isabella, and Liana. I entered some of my work in art shows around the world, and got into a handful overseas! My friends, family, and Dante have always been so supportive, always going to my art events and traveling with me for them. It was around this time that I picked up a love for travel, especially when it revolved around nature, history, or art museums. One of these trips was Dante and I’s crazy weekend trip to London to see a poster of my work that was put up in the London Underground.
In 2024, I took the backpacking trip of my dreams, built around 3 art shows, in New York, Barcelona, and Paris. My brother and I left first for New York, where we met up with Alex, then to Luxembourg for a hiking trip that included both castles and caves. We then met the rest of my family in Barcelona for the second show, and then I met with Liana in Belgium. From Belgium, we went to Paris for the last art show, where we happened to meet up with some of my French friends from college. We stayed in hostels and made new friends, and it’s a trip I’ll never forget!
Gabi's Story
Around 2024, I decided to try and turn Vesper into a physical gathering place, where people could come together and share art experiences. In late 2025, Vesper Design Creative Studio opened its doors, and through it I was lucky enough to meet many talented artists and many friendly neighbors. Towards the end of 2025, Natalie joined me in the endeavor as the Events and Operations Manager, and endured the hours, soap-making, candle-making, farmer’s markets, and more with me. Today, Vesper is in the process of moving locations, but I’m excited to see the adventure it’ll take me on next.
I have been so blessed and privileged to live the life I have lived so far, filled with adventure and surrounded with so many loving and supportive friends and family, and I only hope I can successfully pay it forward in the family and village Dante and I build next! So many of you have made such an impact in my life, and even though I've only named bridesmaids and can't include all of you by name here, know that each and every one of you mean so much to me and I am forever grateful for you.
